To all Society
Members,
It seems
quite incredible that already this Season we have had our St Andrews
Ball, Bells rung at Xmas, had our annual Winter Golf Tournament,
celebrated the birth of Rabbie Burns and have completed two very
successful Kirkins this month.
In respect of the NUCC Kirkin, the Society received a very
complimentary and appreciative letter from the Rev. Cathie O’Connell
on behalf of the NUCC.
The cut-off date for tickets to see and hear the band of the Irish
Guards and Regimental Scots has now passed and those who reserved
tickets can now look forward to a pre event Dinner and a passionate
and entertaining evening of regimental music at the Phil.
As mentioned in earlier Newsletters this leaves us the opportunity
to celebrate Tartan day on or about April 6th 2010 and I
am optimistic that the Board will approve a proposed event in this
regard at our next Board Meeting on March 10th. 2010.
The subject of our Society membership numbers will no doubt be an
ongoing topic but the ball has been kicked off by your Board and
news of developments will be relayed to you as they occur.
The Board would be very receptive to members ideas as to what you
would like to participate in during the quieter warmer months of
Summer. Amongst events that might be considered, could be :-
A repeat Summer Cruise on the Naples Princess
Dinner at the Pub at Mercato
A daytime visit to Miami, Fort Lauderdale or
say one of the Keys.
Any views on the above would be gratefully received.
On Sunday February 14th at the NUCC Kirkin, the Society
had the opportunity of recognizing with the NUCC one of its long
serving and hard working members, John Woodhams, who of course was
also a founding member of your present day Society.
Sadly we have just learned of John’s passing on February 23rd.
2010. The John Woodhams Memorial Service will be held at the NUCC on
Friday March 5th 2010 at
2.00 pm and members of the Society wishing to attend will be
welcomed by the NUCC and Mrs Laura Woodhams.
